Pool Team Lose Rain Affected Final.

The pool team lost their cup final against Rushden. Playing on an unfamiliar table and using rules they had never used before, one miss-cue and one in off made the difference between a 3-3 draw and a 5-1 defeat.
However the runners-up prize was well worth winning and the team made it back to the club in plenty of time to start spending their winnings.

Redtooth Poker.

The Redtooth Poker League will start on Tuesday 30th September. If you wish to take part, come along at 7:15pm and get your self registered. For the 8:00pm start. Carlsberg sponsors the league, the league lasts for 13 weeks and the top 3 go through to the regional final, the last two regional finals were held at the Kingsley.
At the regional final our winner will receive their trophy and join other players from this region to play for a £500 first prize. There are cash prizes for the first 10 places.

Obituary.

Sadly after a long illness we have to report the passing of Mark Anthony Yates aged 39. Mark had been a member for over 18 years. Our thoughts are with his partner Gina, parents Linda and Dave, sister Julieanne & brother Peter. Mark’s funeral service will take place at St Matthews church on Thursday 2nd Oct at 1:45pm followed by internment at Kingsthrope, then refreshments at the club.
Family flowers only, donations may be made to Northampton General
Hospital.

Kingsley Park WMC Local Children in Need.

Due to lack of support we wave had to cancel the afternoon of children’s entertainment that we had planned. We have also decided to move the evening of adult entertainment into the main bar. This will now be a free event. During the evening there will be raffle. Amongst the prizes will be goods donated by our members and organisations such as Carlsberg who are donating tickets for the Saints. May I remind members that all money raised goes to Local Children and not to the club. We ask you all to dig deep and give it your support.

Saturday 4th October.

Table Top Sale. 11:00am – 2:00pm

Have you got any nick knacks that you no longer want? Why not bring them to our Tabletop Sale from 11.00am till 2.00pm. You can rent a table for £10.00 with all the rent going to Local Children In Need.
Please give your name and phone number (plus of course £10.00) to any committee member to book your table. There are still lots of tables available. If you only have a few items why not get a group together and rent a table?

Kitchen Closure.

We have received yet another blow this month in that our electricity suppliers have imposed a huge increase from 1st October.
We are fighting this vigorously, but have to plan with the view to the worst case scenario happening.
Ever since the catering operation started, it has been a service to members rather than a profit making exercise. In the current climate we regret we cannot absorb the additional costs and the price increases needed to keep things on an even keel would be just too much to ask of you.
With effect from 29th September 08 we regret to announce that the kitchen will not open for hot meals.
However, we will continue to supply fresh filled rolls daily and hot pies and pasties. We are also looking into the possibility of supplying microwave food.
Our service for parties, funerals and special events will not alter.
We would like to thank all of you who have enjoyed our meals in the past and hope that, when this recession is over, we may be able to resume a full service.
E.C.

Now the Good News.

We were hoping to adjust our bar tariff during the month of September but just as final preparations were being made the breweries hit us with a round of price rises. Now after some brilliant negotiating we are able to keep the prices down.
Not only that. We are adjusting our bar tariff from October 1st. We will be decreasing the price of all draught beers by about 10%, there will be a minor rounding up of other prices, as many of you have indicated that you don’t want to be bothered with pennies.
In view of the current financial climate this is a significant and brave move by a Committee that is totally committed to the Club and its members.

In order for this to work, we call on the loyalty of our members to use Kingsley Park WMC as their social place of choice.

Some sample prices: Tetley Smooth, £1-95. Carlsberg, £2-05.
Carling, £2-10. Strongbow, £2-25 and Guinness, £2-40

Mayor’s Charity Evening.

On Saturday the 4th October Kingsley are hosting a Charity evening for the Mayor’s Charities: SSAFA Forces Help & Northampton and District Branch Alzheimer’s Society. From 7:00pm to 11:30pm.
There will be a Bangers & Mash Dinner, Live Music, Dancing and a Raffle. We have managed to get some tickets for our members and they are available from Barry for only £10 per person.

Help For Heroes Fund.

We have received a thank you letter from Bern J Armer. Thanking us for the £100 we contributed to the Charity. Bern tells us that he is participating in the Dartmoor `Yomp` on Saturday 27th September. He reckons that the 12 miles across Dartmoor will be a `doddle`.
Then on October the 12th he will be completing in the Commando Challenge at the Commando Training Centre which is a 7 mile obstacle course (2 mile road run 3 mile obstacle course and then a 2 mile road run back to start.)
Bern tells us he did take part in the course 52 years ago as a recruit in The Royal Marines. He would also like to thank our members who donated £192 to the fund, which is more than he got from any of the Royal Marine Clubs that he belongs to. So well done Bern and well done our members.
Photographs of the obstacle course can be found at. www.commandachallenge.co.uk

Christmas Raffle.

Our Christmas raffle tickets have at last been delivered and are on sale now. Tickets are priced at £1:00 for a book of five. You can purchase tickets at the welfare table, from the doorman or from behind the bar.
